Engineering Solutions At-A-Glance
SoftFit II is a software analysis tool for the non-conforming parts process that links those that create the data (Metrology Labs) with those that work with the data (Engineers responsible for non-conforming parts).
For Engineering, CheckMate SoftFit II Root Cause and G.D. & T analysis tools allow you to re-think your organization, communications and reporting structures to make the process of fixing non-conforming parts within a manufacturers multi product/process/supplier environment into one that ties together multiple departments, locations and suppliers and monitor the process as it happens.
What Origin software does. Origin CheckMate Pro and SoftFit II allows Engineering departments the tools to streamline the non-conforming parts process by providing a complete suite of functions that span the Quality and Engineering functions including
programming most CMMs, 3D Graphical Reporting and both Root Cause and G.D. & T. Analysis
capabilities.
Implementing CheckMate SoftFit in multi-vendor CMM/Software Environments.
CheckMate SoftFit II(analysis, fitting, G D & T software) can be implemented in a stand alone mode as an analysis tool for Engineers and import files both 2D and 3D files from most “native” environments. Direct translators/auto loaders for CATIA/IGES, IGES/CATIA, Pro/Engineer to IGES, UG to IGES and various other native environments specific to CMM vendor environments exist and CheckMate modules can work with or accept data from all major brands of CMM/Software used in north America today including LK, Browne & Sharpe, Zeiss, Tarus, Sheffield, etc.,
Enterprise Networked Solution. Manufacturers who want to maximize their existing investments in CMMs/metrology software and expertise of their operators can easily implement CheckMate SoftFit to process the output from their existing CAD based metrology software. This functionality can be implemented on a specific PC within a Quality department or lab or it can be networked to offer this functionality throughout a facility on multiple PCs where the appropriate personnel (typically Engineers/Quality personnel) responsible for analyzing and “fixing” the part, die or communicating out of tolerance conditions to the supplier/manufacturer.
An innovative implementation of the CheckMate SoftFit II is in the supplier/manufacturer’s facility where personnel from the supplier and production facility can collaborate in the fitting/analysis function.
Shop Floor Solutions. In addition, Origin’s suite of software, CheckMate Pro, combines superior capability to program, measure and report integrated in the CMM environment in the shop floor or production environment and allows for an “automated gauge” capability with the minimum of human intervention.

Software
SoftFit II at a glance
SoftFit II is a unique software tool for Engineers that can provide the precise dimensional information needed to analyze, approve or fix non-conforming parts measured by your company’s Metrology Lab and or Quality function no matter what brand of CMM/software they use.
Origin SoftFit II allows Engineering departments the tools to streamline the process of measuring parts for Quality and “fixing/fitting” in Engineering by directly connecting any number of individuals and or departments responsible for Quality/Engineering any way that makes sense in your organization. This unique approach works with multiple metrology departments and in multi vendor CMM environments because our analysis/fitting software CheckMate SoftFit II can take input from almost all known environments in the North American manufacturing industry.
For Plant Management Origin’s CheckMate Pro suite of software tools for both Quality Departments and Engineering allow manufacturers to span the “communication and reporting gap” between Engineering and Quality and allow management to re-think their processes and reporting structure to allow problems to be solved quickly before they become expensive, cost a supplier relationship or effect production.
What does SoftFit II do? SoftFit II™ gives your Engineers the information they need to approve or fix non conforming parts.
How does it work?
-
3D Graphic Reporting of existing part: precisely identifies problem areas as measured.
-
Virtual “what if” simulation.
-
3D Graphic Reporting of “what if” simulated “fixes”.
-
Provides the precise dimensional information to “fix” the non conforming part.
Virtual “what if” simulation:
-
functionally group features for analysis
-
use bonus from multiple features
-
dissection of assemblies
-
change feature tolerances & re-evaluate
-
evaluate selective features or patterns
-
shim a surface or move holes
-
evaluate “best fix” options: e.g. grind vs. weld
-
free up that datum (jiggle, move)
-
non conforming but functional: e.g. maximum features in tolerance
-
scaling for mold applications
