Play Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning for Free for 48 Hours

Starting today, Origin users in select countries can play a free, 48-hour trial of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning! Not only can you experience the real game starting from the beginning, but you’ll also have an opportunity to purchase the full game—and continue playing right where you left off!

How is this different from the Reckoning demo? Demos typically only let you play a specific slice of a game. This free trial offers you the full game for a limited period of time. Once you initiate the trial, you’ll have 48 continuous hours to play as much Reckoning as you want—whether you dabble with it for five hours or marathon a 2-day gameplay session. Either way, if you decide to buy Reckoning, you’ll keep your save progress so long as you have Origin cloud storage enabled! Before hitting play, make sure you're on your preferred gaming PC (you will not be able to launch the trial on multiple machines).  And while this Reckoning free trial is only available in North America, Great Britain and Australia to start, stay tuned for more games and a wider reach in the coming months.

Sound good? Get started with your Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning free trial now. We’d love to hear your feedback on this free trial and suggestions for other games in the comments below.

mininuke2210 - The 50% off coupon will appear when you quit out of the free trial. The actual game isn't on sale for 50% off, you have to activate your coupon by playing the free trial. Hope that helps!

As soon as I download it, the trial starts? Because I'd rather download it, then start playing when I feel like it. If it takes me 10 hours to download it, does that mean I only have 38 hours?

No, the trial should only start counting down as soon as you launch the game for the first time. You can always track your remaning time in the Origin in-game overlay.

I downloaded the 48 hour trial but when I clicked play it said "You will have 1 hour real time to play this trial." I haven't accepted that, because I don't want to only try it for an hour; I'd rather just not play it at all. I might buy it if I get to see more than an hour, though. How can I get the 48 hour trial?

It did the same for me, though I clicked on the "Get Started" in the 48 hour trial and it tried updating but failed to do so. It keeps failing in fact. Just keeps saying try again later...

Only got 1 hour of play time before it ended my trial. Any reason for this and will EA reset it so I can actually play for the 48hrs that was promised to me if I downloaded the demo.

I only got an hour demo myself... said 48. Even the steam demo was a good 2-3 hours of content. Very disappointed. Probably cost them a sale as well.

I only got 1 hour of play, and didn't even get to play the game. Now it just wants me to buy it. This is why Steam is the leader, and Origin will never be what steam is today. Thanks for getting my hopes up, and slapping me with this, 'BUY NOW' bs. Excellent marketing stratedgy. Sell your games to steam, they know what they are doing.

After 60 mins it said my 48 hour period was over - I only activated it at 7pm last night (1st March) so now I should have 32 hours left - is it something that i am doing wrong?

Well I downloaded it last night, started playing today at noon, and got a good 5-6 hours of play in, then logged out, and now it says the trial has expired so can't get back in. So yeah, this is not a 48 hour trial.

When do we get the 50% off coupon? The only post on here by Origin says after we quit the trial. Does that mean after the 48 hours are up?

March 11, 2013
Same as everyone else. I downloaded the demo. I played for a few hours. Now it's expired. I'm ready to take them up on the 50% off and buy it. Guess what?
NO DISCOUNT! The only response from EA to any of us here is "The 50% off coupon will appear when you quit out of the free trial". I'm Not sure what you mean "quit out" of the free trial. If by that you mean let it expire, then it has already. To activate my "coupon" by playing the free trial. Ok, I played it and the trial is over, but I never received any coupon via email or the origin client and it's not applying the discount at checkout either. Maybe I just need to move on and see what deals are on Steam.

I talked with the Origin help service but I still had about an hour left on my trial. They told me to wait until it was expired and if I still hadn't received a coupon that I should contact them again.

Although 29.99 is half of what the game was originally for, it doesn't show as on sale. The 29.99 seems to be the regular price for the game. So with the coupon it should be 15$ or so.

Alright, so I put in another petition to live chat today. Long story short, they had me purchase the game and then refunded me 50% of it.

It's on sale on Steam for 19more hours for a straight up 50% off ... just sayin.
Genesis319
March 17, 2013
Crashbombs is right, head over to Steam! I spent an hour on Origin's live chat only to be told to call back the next day and talk to an EA rep who could give me the discount. I spent another hour on the phone (mostly on hold) and the EA rep told me to call back yet again and he would escalate my case. So here it is a week later and I am buying it at Steam because it is easy, works flawlessly, and is the same discounted price. In fact, it's better the whole collection is on sale! The game and all of the DLC is half off. No playing a demo for 2 days. No sitting on hold for hours!

If Origin doesn't watch it they will see their customers leave like the place is on fire. Between the game client and the customer service I can't even give them my money! So... I'll give it to Steam who will be happy to take it and give me what I want.

downloaded and played the trial never received the 50% off coupon/promo code/anything regarding the deal promoted.. Any help would be appreciated, I enjoyed the game and would purchase it at the going rate but its a matter of principle if its advertised as being 50% with a 48 hour demo is should be 50% off...

Um, I downloaded the game and played for two hours before taking a break to do other things. But when I came back to launch it again it said the time trial expired. Is that supposed to happen? Because again, I only played for two hours, not two days.

I just started the 48 hour trail for my son and myself. I launched the game and played a couple of hours. When I closed it down a window popped up from origin with the discount, so I was able to get it for 50 percent off or $9.99 for myself and it worked for my son too. I don't know if the window only pops just once? Since I read that a lot of people were having problems with the discount and acted on it right away.

Absolutely ridiculous. I just spent 32 on chat trying to get some sense out of an advisor.

Have you played the game? Great question.. Of course I have, why would I be on to you to get my 50% discount..

The advisor then elevated it and asked me to call the 10p/minute support line. Listening to the music at the mo and am at 15 minutes already. Luckily I phoned the direct switchboard number by using saynoto0870.com

I'm disgusted at the lack of support these guys give. You would think that looking at this thread they would admit to there being an issue and just give a coupon out.. Instead they want to make you jump through some more hoops.

I want to buy the game at £9.99 which I think is probably a more realistic price than £19.99.

Is it that much to ask that if you promote something at 50% off that is what you get without all the hassle.

Steam is a much better platform but unfortunately they are trying to sell it at £29.99 otherwise I would have done that.

Come on tech support/programmers/whoever. Start getting your act together and perhaps more people will buy from you

update.. 32 minutes on chat to no avail and 38 minutes on phone with a no luck.

I was told to ring again in 3 hours and 20 minutes when the Origin get out of bed.

I did get an offer to make me buy it at full price and receive the difference back in a couple of days. Why should I let them keep my money for a few days? Why can't they just have software that works.

I dread to think how many sales they must lose with this attitude towards their software?
