A new assassin protagonist and historical backdrop add extra dimensions to the gameplay and dynamics of this latest installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. You play as Ratonhnhaké:ton (it's probably easier to call him by his adopted name, "Connor"), a member of the Kanien'kehá:ka (commonly referred to as the "Mohawk Tribe") and new inductee in the Assassin's Guild during the Revolutionary War. While Connor brandishes an arsenal of historical weapons—ranging from muskets to tomahawks to rope darts, AC3 also introduces changes to the environment. Besides navigating cityscapes like colonial Boston and New York, the game world now includes the American Frontier—giving you more open natural environments to climb and explore while providing additional variety in locales like deep woods and bloody battlefields.
Adding a new character and setting wasn't enough, as AC3 also adds naval warfare to the franchise. In between enacting historical moments such as Paul Revere's Ride or the Battle of Monmouth, you can take to the seas, go treasure hunting, and sink enemy frigates in the name of freedom. You can also pick up the Deluxe Edition, which gives you access to the Season Pass—meaning five downloadable content packs full of new missions, stories and more. This edition also includes a digital soundtrack and a PDF file—George Washington’s Notebook—which gives the player more insight into the famous events surrounding the story.
