Origin is primarily PC-based nowadays, but all EA games—even ones on consoles like the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3—can interact with your EA account. You can use this functionality to find friends that are already using Origin. Even if you don’t know which email addresses your friends use for Origin, if you happen to know their Xbox Live name or you’re friends with them on Facebook, you can use those social networks to automatically find your friends on Origin and include them on your Friends List. Follow the steps below to import your friends into Origin.
First, know that there are two areas in the Origin client where you can Add a Friend to the Origin Friends List: (1) Select “Friends” in the main menu, and then click on “Add a Friend…” from the drop-down menu or (2) click on the “Add a Friend” button in the bottom right-corner of the Friends List window.
Both options will pull the Import Friends Wizard. Here is where you can search for friends either by using their ID, real name, and/or email address—or by using your existing social networks. By connecting with Facebook, Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, or within pre-Origin EA games (such as Need for Speed Hot Pursuit), you can use Origin to consolidate your networks and enhance your social gaming experiences.
Once you choose an existing social network (such as Facebook), Origin will then search for any of your friends within that network that use Origin and display them on a list. Your friend can be selected by clicking on the checkbox to the left of the avatar icon for that user. Additionally, the ‘Select All/None’ checkbox in the upper-right corner will toggle selection of all users found in the search results. After that, Origin will then send friend requests to each of your selections.
From your friend's perspective, a new friend invite shows up at the top of their Origin Friends List. At this point, he or she can either ACCEPT or IGNORE the friend request from you. Once your friend accepts your friend request, you will be added to your friend's existing Origin Friends List. And you will have just expanded your collaborative gaming potential to include your favorite people without having to remember what emails they used or randomly guess what they created as their ID.
